Dr. Asha Storm serves as a Program Analyst/Health Specialist for the National Institutes of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Storm also serves on multiple diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility groups such as NIH’s UNITE Committee, the Sexual and Gender Minority Research Coordinating Committee, and NIBIB’s internal DEIA group.

Asha (Ashley) Storm joined NIBIB in 2016 after two-and-a-half years with NIH’s Division of Veterinary Resources as a Research Support Specialist- Animal Behaviorist. There they focused on large animal welfare in research, including assessment of behavior, abnormal behavior treatment, socialization, and cooperative reinforcement training. Prior to that, Asha studied biopsychology with a focus on animal behavior, and cultural anthropology. During their time at NIBIB, Asha also received their Ph.D. focused on traumatic stress in nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Storm’s doctoral research used mixed methods research to examine the lived experiences of hospital nurses three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, focusing on peritraumatic distress and post-traumatic stress, moral distress, resilience, and personal and professional wellbeing. Dr. Storm also has an interest in policy, advocacy, and mixed methods research.
