Successful mentoring relationships can positively impact the career trajectory of researchers across the talent cycle. This is particularly important for attracting and retaining diverse talent from underrepresented groups. Studies show that many factors contribute to successful mentorship experiences in scientific settings. In this seminar, a panel of experts will discuss the latest data, theoretical frameworks to inform mentorship, and building an inclusive environment.

NIH’s Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity (COSWD), Marie A. Bernard, M.D., will moderate the 90-minute event featuring panelists who will discuss the importance of theoretical models and building an inclusive environment through mentorship. Dr. Karen Salt, Deputy Director for Research Culture and Environment within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), will join the discussion to share insights from her work advancing equality, diversity, and inclusion in research careers.
